We are hiring a Contracts Manager
Due to a high demand in workload, DVC Commercial Roofing Contractors are looking to recruit an experienced Contracts Manager to cover the North East and North West of England. We are offering a competitive annual salary between £45,000 to £55,000 along with a company vehicle being a commercial 4x4 pickup as well as 30 days holiday entitlement including bank holidays and pension enrollment along with being included in the yearly company bonus scheme. The contracts Manager is to have overall responsibility for ensuring that all DVC roofing projects are completed safely, within an agreed timeframe, budget and to a high quality. Managing the practical side of every stage of the roof works, you'll work closely with architects, surveyors and other building professionals in planning and delivery. You will also supervise and direct a range of operations on a construction site and ensure that all site management, tradespeople, and contractors are working together to an agreed plan and that progress is being made. You will oversee all sites from set up to completion.
As The Contracts Manager you will ultimately be responsible for :-
Ensuring all jobs are delivered on time on budget and to a high quality.
Ensuring all works delivered safely.
The performance management and development of Contracts Managers, Site Managers and Site Operatives including addressing poor performance swiftly and ensuring consequences.
The recruitment of operational personnel where relevant (subject to approval).
Reporting on and tracking all costs CVR on site
Working with Finance manager to keep the monthly works planner up to date. Assist with submitting monthly applications for works carried out within the month within the correct application guideline dates.
MAIN DUTIES:
Plan and coordinate a project from start to finish, including organising the schedule of work, costings, and budget.
Plan the work and oversee the buying of necessary materials and equipment.
Hire and manage labour / staff for the project.
Manage / oversee the construction site, including supervising the site manager, labour force, monitoring subcontractors, checking materials, inspecting work, and overseeing quality control.
Ensure the project is delivered on time and on budget by setting benchmarks, agreeing budgets and monitoring progress.
Check design documents with architects, surveyors, and manufacturers.
Write reports.
Maintain regular communication and attend meetings with clients and their representatives to inform them of progress on the project.
Communicate with any consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, planners, quantity surveyors and others involved in the project.
CONTRACTS:
Attending post tender handover meetings, pre-start meetings and handover meetings and attending progress meetings when appropriate.
Chair Contract Delivery Team meeting and ensure all members of the Contract Delivery Team contribute to these meetings and ensure all operational reports are submitted.
Providing technical and operational support to Contract Manager.
Intervening when problems arise, agreeing action plans to recover delays and ensuring a satisfactory conclusion is reached.
Challenging under-performance and ensuring consequences.
Ensuring the image of the company is professional and uniform across all sites – signboards, vehicles, clothing, PPE etc.
Set common operational standards throughout sites.
Carrying out post-contract reviews on all major projects. Review sub-contractor performance on completion of contracts, giving feedback where appropriate.
In conjunction with Contracts Manager / commercial teams maintain company-wide overview of sub-contract labour and trades availability to suit our programmes, avoiding over-commitment of sub-contractors.
Monitor methods and output to ensure that required quality standards are achieved at minimum cost and that the requirement for snagging is minimal.
Oversee H&S and ensure company is delivering projects with the highest standards of safety. Monitor site practices to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations, including the company H & S Policy, to minimise the likelihood of accidents and the resulting fines and compensation claims.
PEOPLE:
Overseeing labour meetings and ensuring company own operatives and labour agency staff are well-utilised, whilst minimising payroll costs.
Recruitment of staff when necessary.
Ensure all personnel recruitment and induction procedures are completed to ensure compliance with relevant legislation
Ensuring labour agency staff of good standard.
Assist with the identification of training needs.
CLIENTS:
Checking clients are happy throughout the project.
Create good relationships with clients & place company in the best position to negotiate the next project / contract.
Assist the CD and sales team in hosting promotional events / entertainment for clients and professional contacts.
STAFF MANAGMENT:
Take responsibility for the allocation and delivery of the work within your team ensuring that clear timescales and requirements are clearly articulated to your team and you manage the delivery to time and budget. As a manager of the team, make sure you:-

Manage costs of team in line with budget – but where required identify extra investment required for MD approval.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES:
Plan and organise own workload without direct supervision.
COMMUNICATION:
The role will require the post holder to communicate verbally in a professional manner with a wide range of personnel both internally and with external clients.
The post holder will use their initiative to solve problems and answer queries from both internal and external sources and will communicate with clients and the team in positive and respectful manner.
The post holder will be required to undertake other duties as requested within the scope of their ability and role.
