Project – Flat Roof Repair
When we were contracted for the flat roof repair at RMBI Care Home, the previous roof was covered in a single ply that was defective at the seams and caused water ingress. The water had got in below the insulation board and forced them to become dislodged from the roof substrate.
What we did – Firestone EPDM Roofing
To begin with, the DVC team stripped this roof back to the original concrete screed and supplied 100 mm of insulation. Usually, we can then apply Firestone EPDM single ply direct to the insulation, but in this case the roof was going to be used as a balcony for residents of the care home.
Subsequently, we covered the existing insulation with a 22mm Tongue and Groove board before applying the Firestone EPDM Rubber Roof, which gave us the finished product.
The Finished Product
Once the whole roof had been completely installed, we then supplied and fitted EPDM rubber mats with designated yellow mats installed to show the exit points.
This matting was specified so residents of the care home could easily access the balcony area with less risk of damage if a fall was to occur.
