DVC Commercial Roofing recently completed a modern roofing refurbishment at Seaton Sluice School in Northumberland using the advanced IKO Mach One Roofing System. The project was designed to improve the building’s weather protection, appearance, and long-term performance while delivering a safe and durable roofing solution for the school.

Commercial Roof Installation Process
The roofing project began with the installation of new 18mm OSB Tongue and Groove decking. The decking was securely fixed to the existing roof joists to create a strong and stable base for the new roofing system.
Once the decking was complete, we installed the IKO Mach One Single Ply membrane across the roof area. The membrane was adhered at 300mm centres to maximise strength and long-term performance.
Key installation features included:
- New 18mm OSB Tongue and Groove decking
- IKO Mach One Single Ply membrane
- Self-adhesive perimeter underlay
- Hot air welded waterproof seams
- New IKO refurbishment outlets
- Fully sealed outlet details
- Flame-free roofing installation
All seams were heat welded using specialist hot air welding equipment. This created a strong, seamless, and watertight finish across the roof.
We also renewed all outlet details using IKO refurbishment outlets. These were professionally sealed into the new roofing system to improve drainage and waterproofing performance.
The completed roof system is backed by a 20-year manufacturer warranty from IKO, providing long-term peace of mind for the school.
Improving the School’s Appearance
Alongside the roofing works, we also upgraded the building’s fascia details to improve the overall appearance of the school.
The existing timber fascia boards had become rotten and weather damaged over time. We removed all damaged timber and replaced it with custom-made polyester-coated steel sheets.
