Canford Audio selects DVC Commercial Roofing to complete roof refurbishment
The Project: Roof Refurbishment
DVC Commercial Roofing Contractors are looking forward to starting a 15-week roof refurbishment project for Canford Audio. The team is scheduled to be on-site from next week to complete the project. Works include the removal and replacement of the existing roof build-up to areas identified as saturated, by a moisture mapping survey (approx. 12% of the roof area). In response to the survey, the solution will be to overlay the whole roof area with Bauder AVCL and a two-layer felt system. The project will also include an installation of a 200 kWp PV System, comprising of 522nr solar panels fixed in place using Bauder’s membrane-to-membrane fixing system.
Client Overview
Canford is probably best known for its catalogue and website listing over 15,000 items aimed at those who use or install audio, video and communications equipment. The sheer breadth of that target market has meant that Canford has had both the pleasure and responsibility of serving hundreds of thousands of clients since its formation in 1976.
From the earliest days, those clients have ranged from major national broadcasters to one-man businesses and from remote island-based customers to a surprising number of FTSE 100 companies. The expectations of those large organisations have meant that Canford has had to maintain a remarkably high standard of customer service and compliance since the beginning. Despite its growth over those years, Canford has always attempted to maintain a very personal approach to its customers and takes great care to maintain that ethos. Of course, it is now possible to buy via the internet, but if you want to call and talk, you will not be confronted by automated responses, only fellow humans! To maintain their best service to their clients, Canford decided to conduct a commercial roof refurbishment with DVC.

Frequently Asked Questions: Commercial Flat Roofing Contractors Near Me
1. What is the best roofing system for healthcare facilities?
Healthcare buildings typically require roofing systems with high hygiene standards, fire resistance, and strong waterproofing. Single-ply membranes are popular for hospitals and clinics because they are durable, low-maintenance, and minimise disruption during installation.
2. How often should a commercial roof be inspected?
Commercial roofs should be professionally inspected at least once a year, and after major weather events. Regular surveys help detect leaks, weak points, and moisture build-up before they develop into costly issues.
3. What are the most common problems with flat roofs?
Flat roofs often experience issues such as ponding water, membrane shrinkage, damaged seams, poor drainage, and trapped moisture. These problems are typically identified through a commercial roof survey or flat roof inspection.
4. What is liquid-applied roofing and when is it used?
Liquid-applied roofing is a seamless waterproof membrane applied directly to the roof surface. It’s ideal for repairing ageing roofs, coating complex shapes, and creating a fully watertight finish without removing the existing system.
5. What types of commercial roofing services do you provide?
DVC Commercial Roofing Contractors offers commercial roof repairs, full replacements, new installations, surveys, emergency leak response, flat roofing, liquid roofing, and roof maintenance for businesses and industrial sites.
6. How do I know whether my commercial roof needs repair or replacement?
Signs include recurring leaks, widespread membrane damage, insulation saturation, sagging areas, or repairs becoming more frequent. Commercial roof inspections can confirm whether cost-effective repairs are possible or whether a full replacement is recommended.
7. Do you offer emergency roof repair services in the North East?
Yes. We provide rapid-response emergency roof repair for commercial, industrial, and healthcare buildings across the North East. Our team quickly identifies the source of the leak and provides immediate temporary or permanent solutions.
8. How do I get a commercial roofing quote?
You can request a quote online, by phone, or through our contact form. A site visit or survey is then arranged by our estimators to confirm an accurate cost.
9. What is involved in a commercial roof survey?
A roof survey includes a full inspection of the membrane, flashing, drainage, insulation, and structural condition. We use photos, moisture mapping, and sometimes drones to identify defects and create a detailed report with recommendations and costs.
