1.What does a typical day look like as a Contracts Manager at DVC?
A day in the life of a Contracts Manager at DVC Commercial Roofing is always unpredictable, as each day brings new challenges and opportunities. You need to be ready to resolve issues as they arise, or ideally, anticipate them in advance to prevent problems on site. Staying proactive and organised is essential to ensure projects run smoothly and efficiently.
2.What inspired you to complete your NVQ Level 6 qualification in Construction Contracting Operations Management?
I pursued my NVQ Level 6 CCO to support my personal and professional growth, as well as to bring additional value to DVC roofing. This qualification not only reflects well on me and the company but also reassures clients that they are in capable and trusted hands.
3.How did you find the NVQ Level 6 process?
Completing the NVQ was a relatively smooth process for me, mainly because I already possessed a solid foundation of knowledge in the field, which made understanding the coursework more manageable. Additionally, I had gathered ample evidence from my practical experience, which allowed me to demonstrate my skills effectively and meet the assessment requirements with confidence.
4.How will achieving this qualification benefit you professionally?
Achieving this qualification will significantly strengthen both my professional portfolio and DVC’s overall reputation within the industry. It demonstrates a high level of expertise and commitment to excellence, providing added credibility when initiating new projects or participating in the tendering process. Clients can have greater confidence in knowing they are working with qualified professionals who consistently meet and uphold industry standards, ensuring projects are managed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality.
5.What advice would you give to someone considering this qualification?
I would highly recommend that anyone set a goal to achieve this level of certification, as it is truly worthwhile. It not only enhances your own professional profile and strengthens your company’s credibility, but it also builds trust with clients who can see the standard of qualification you hold. It serves as clear evidence of your ability to manage a project from start to finish, ensuring compliance with all regulations, delivering on time, and meeting every expectation along the way.
6.What are you most looking forward to next at DVC?
Now that I have achieved my NVQ Level 6, I don’t plan on stopping there. Over the next couple of years, I intend to pursue my NVQ Level 7 and work towards obtaining either my IOSH or NEBOSH qualification. Continuous self-development is very important to me. I enjoy learning new skills and expanding my knowledge to strengthen both my own portfolio and the reputation of DVC Roofing.
