Delivering roofing excellence since 1995

Scott Steps into the Role of Managing Director at DVC

commercial roofing company

We’re thrilled to announce that Scott has been promoted from Commercial Director to Managing Director at DVC!

After nearly two decades in the roofing industry and an incredible journey with DVC Commercial Roofing Contractors, Scott’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for both him and the company. To mark the occasion, we sat down with him for a quick Q&A about his journey, his vision, and what this promotion means on both a personal and professional level.

Q: What does stepping into the role of Managing Director mean to you personally and professionally?

“Becoming MD has been a personal goal of mine since I started my career in roofing 18 years ago—though at the time, I probably didn’t fully understand what that really meant!

Professionally, I’m overwhelmed by the support of the incredible team I’ve had around me over the years. My role as MD is to make sure that every member of the team is looked after and provided for at every level—through the right training, safe working environments, great career opportunities, and a healthy work-life balance.

When you get that right, the quality of work and the profits naturally follow.”

Q: Reflecting on your time at DVC, what experiences have shaped your growth the most?

“The challenges and successes I’ve experienced at DVC have shaped both my professional and personal outlook. We’ve had some incredibly tough projects with near-impossible deadlines—but every time, the team has pulled together to deliver.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to live by real, meaningful values—not just slogans on a wall. True values guide every decision and create a culture where people thrive, support one another, and genuinely enjoy what they do.”

Q: What is your vision for DVC’s next chapter?

“We’ve got a strong sales plan that will see continued growth and new opportunities—both internally and externally—while staying true to the foundations Darren built over his 30 years leading the company.

Growth will also come through innovation, with the integration of new technologies like AI and advanced drone systems to expand our capabilities across the roofing industry.”

Q: What do you see as the biggest opportunities or challenges in the industry right now?

“One of the biggest challenges is the shortage of young people entering the roofing industry. It’s been a problem for years, but we’ve turned that challenge into an opportunity.

We’ve introduced roles like Junior Estimator and Junior Contracts Supervisor to give young people the chance to learn, train, and progress into full professional roles. Without people, there’s no business—and no industry.”

Q: How do you plan to inspire and empower your team moving forward?

“The DVC culture has always been one of our strongest assets. I believe in encouraging autonomy, flexibility, and positive challenge.

Everyone has a voice here—15 minds with over 100 years of combined experience are far better than one person trying to do it all. By fostering accountability and open communication, I want to make sure our team continues to thrive and innovate together.”

Q: Finally, what advice would you give to those aspiring to leadership roles within DVC?

“At DVC, the path is there for anyone who wants it. We provide the training, support, and guidance to help our people develop and progress.

More broadly, I’d say: work hard, be honest, and take the initiative to learn what others haven’t. Deep knowledge brings authority and confidence. Your career is your story to write—so make it a great one.”

Looking Ahead…

Scott’s promotion to Managing Director is more than just a milestone, it’s a reflection of DVC’s commitment to growth, innovation, and people-first leadership. As he leads the company into its next era, we’re excited to see the continued evolution of DVC Roofing under his guidance.

Here’s to the next chapter!

And congratulations again Scott from the full DVC Team.
