SIKA Liquid Plastics to Tyne Tunnel South Extract

PROJECT REQUIREMENT
This roof in Newcastle was waterproofed originally using single ply. As you can see, there is a lot of detail to waterproof around. The extract towers and the handrail that cuts into the main box gutter serving the roof are all tricky detail to achieve in single ply, as there were many joints to weld.
A great deal of work was required to get this roof ready for waterproofing. The roof was completely stripped back to the existing concrete substrate, following which we supplied a S/A Vapour Control and a cut to fall insulation scheme.
A Decothane Ultra 20 year system from Sika Liquid Plastics was specified. This is a cold, liquid-applied system that cures to form a completely seamless waterproof membrane. The full system consists of a Decothane Ultra Base Coat, reinforced with Reemat Premium glass fibre matting, and completed with a Decothane Ultra Top Coat in Slate Grey.
Deco thane Ultra is completely cold applied and cures to provide seamless waterproof protection guaranteed for 20 years. There is no requirement for heat or naked flame during installation so the works can be safely completed whilst the building was in use.
