Waterproofing Solution for GSK Units 2 & 3
Waterproofing Solution for GSK Units 2 & 3
Project Overview: GSK Units 2 & 3, a significant industrial facility, faced a persistent leakage caused by cut edge corrosion on the aged metal profile roofs. This challenge encompassed an area of approximately 500 m² around the sheet laps and sheet end areas. The project aimed to address this issue by implementing a comprehensive waterproofing solution to eliminate leaks and ensure long-term protection
Challenges: Before the intervention, the specified roof area had been susceptible to leaks, causing disruptions and potential damage to the facility’s interior. These leaks posed risks to equipment, inventory, and the overall operational efficiency of the unit. The challenge was finding an effective and lasting solution to eliminate the recurring leakage problem.
Solution Implemented: DVC Commercial Roofing devised a comprehensive solution that involved encapsulating the problematic area of the roof with specialised coatings. These coatings were carefully applied to the existing roof sheets, forming a robust protective layer to prevent water infiltration. The selected coatings were chosen for their durability, longevity, and ability to withstand the elements.
Benefits and Results: The implementation of the waterproofing solution yielded significant benefits for GSK Units 2 & 3
Leak Elimination: The risk of leaks was stopped by encapsulating the roof area with the chosen coatings. The works protected the interior space, equipment, and assets from water damage.
Enhanced Durability: The applied coatings added a layer of durability to the existing roof sheets, extending their lifespan and reducing the need for frequent repairs or replacements.
Operational Continuity: With the leakage issue resolved, GSK Units 2 & 3 experienced uninterrupted operations, safeguarding production schedules and maintaining optimal efficiency.
Cost Savings: The proactive approach to addressing the leakage problem prevented costly damages and potential disruptions, resulting in significant cost savings over the long term.
Peace of Mind: The encapsulated roof area provided GSK Units 2 & 3 with peace of mind, knowing that the risk of leaks and associated complications had been successfully mitigated.
