Renewing Timber Battens at Framwellgate Moor Community Centre

The Project – Renewing Timber Battens at Framwellgate Community Centre

The brief for this project was to remove the existing slate roof, renew the timber battens, and replace it with a more breathable felt roof at Framwellgate Moor Community Centre. This North East roof repair project by DVC Roofing was conducted on behalf of Durham County Council.

What we did – Replacing Slate Roof with Timber Battens

The first thing we had to do was remove the existing slate roof (which could be re-used for sustainability). We then replaced the slate and renewed the roof with new breathable felt and timber battens.

This Felt Roofing system is an extremely durable method of roofing. Within the top layer of the system or cap sheet is a layer of woven polyester, allowing the system to accommodate thermal movement experienced by buildings with the extremes of seasonal temperatures.

Felt roofing is a more breathable fabric than the older, more traditional slate roof on the Community centre, with the additional benefit of the new timber battens.

The Finished Product

We are thrilled with the finished product on this Durham roof repair. DVC roofing are a North East based roofing company but we travel nationally to undertake large scale and domestic roofing projects.
